I found my new favorite U.S. city and that is Greenville, South Carolina. My colleagues kept telling me that this was great place to visit, but I really didn’t know much about it. From delicious food to shopping to a waterfall park it quickly became an incredible destination that I can’t wait to go back to! It was a beautiful city and the people were so friendly. Let me tell you about some of the things I loved about this city!
Things to Do
When it comes to things to do, a simple stroll through Downtown can be enough of an adventure right there. You can window shop (or shop for real!) and the stores range from high end boutiques to old general stores. There are plenty of places to find sweet treats such as Blueberry Frog, a local frozen yogurt place, to a gourmet candy store.

Downtown Greenville is also quite artsy and has some historical references throughout. Pay attention to the statues and sculptures located along the streets and sidewalks. We also can’t forget to mention Falls Park on the Reedy. It is right in the heart of Main St. and leads to some beautiful walking trails. There is a gorgeous waterfall as the name suggests, and I sat outside there for awhile on night that had perfect Spring weather. You will also find an entrance to Swamp Rabbit Trail which is a 22-mile multi-use greenway. This trail leads to some great destinations, as well!

Best Place to Eat
Unfortunately, I did not get out to many of the restaurants while visiting and this is a huge regret I have because Greenville, SC has a huge foodie scene! One of the best meals I had while visiting was at Nose Dive, a relaxed higher-end restaurant offering unique takes on pub fares.

I enjoyed the Friend Green Tomatoes with Seared Shrimp and the Vegetable Plate. There menu changes often to fit what is in season, and these were some wonderful offerings while I was there. The fried green tomatoes and shrimp were beer battered and a perfect pairing with the colorful vegetable plate. The Vegetable Plate included roasted carrots, Brussel sprouts. seasonal vegetables, and garlic mashed potatoes. To say I was stuffed after this dinner would be an understatement, but I was easily able to walk off some of it on my way back to my hotel.
Where to Stay
I highly recommend the Homewood Suites Downtown Greenville! It is right off Main St giving easy access to all the food, shopping, and walking trails. It was a beautiful, clean hotel with friendly staff. It was actually the best hotel experience I have had since living in this pandemic world.
I hope you are able to find a time to visit and enjoy Greenville, SC. I know I’ll be going back!
